Karachi Cohort | ICADRP’s 40-Hour Signature Mediation Training (2026)

Advancing Mediation Practice through Structured Training and Collaboration

The International Centre for Appropriate Dispute Resolution and Prevention successfully conducted its 40-Hour Signature Mediation Training – Karachi Cohort in collaboration with the Sindh Judicial Academy and the Weinstein International Foundation. Held from 9–13 February 2026, the program brought together judges and professionals committed to advancing mediation and alternative dispute resolution in Pakistan.

The training was led by a distinguished faculty, including James MacPherson, Sherif Elnegahy, Dr. Nudrat E. Piracha, and Emad Hussein, combining international best practices with national judicial expertise. The initiative reflects ICADRP’s vision to strengthen institutional capacity, promote a mediation culture, and equip professionals with practical, internationally aligned dispute resolution skills.

The first three days of the training focused on building a strong foundation in mediation. Participants explored the core architecture of mediation, including neutrality, confidentiality, ethics, and structured process design, while gaining clarity on the mediator’s role from opening statement to settlement pathway. Through structured simulations based on real dispute scenarios, participants practiced advanced communication techniques, including interest-based negotiation, caucusing strategies, and managing complex party dynamics. As the training progressed, full-length mediation exercises were conducted under supervision, supported by detailed coaching and feedback that enhanced procedural command, emotional intelligence, and settlement facilitation skills.

Day 4 of the program was marked by intensive, back-to-back practical sessions, where participants demonstrated significant growth through immersive simulations and collaborative learning. The cohort displayed strong analytical depth, engagement, and professionalism, contributing to a dynamic and standards-driven learning environment.

The program concluded with a Grand Closing Ceremony, graciously presided over by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, Senior Puisne Judge of the High Court of Sindh and Vice Chairman & Director General of the Sindh Judicial Academy. His presence added distinction and inspiration to the closing, marking a meaningful conclusion to the training.

ICADRP extends its sincere appreciation to its faculty and assessors, including Zafar Iqbal Kalanauri for his mentorship and leadership, and Azm Ali for his continued support throughout the program. Special appreciation is also extended to the Sindh Judicial Academy for its professionalism, hospitality, and unwavering collaboration.

This training represents more than the completion of a program—it marks the continued development of professional mediation capacity in Pakistan through structured learning, rigorous practice, and a shared commitment to strengthening dispute resolution systems.
