Mediation in Labor Relations & Family Disputes | Advanced Mediation Skills
The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), U.S. Department of Commerce, in coordination with the International Centre for Appropriate Dispute Resolution & Prevention (ICADRP), convened an advanced mediation skills program focused on labor relations and family disputes.
Held on August 31, 2026, in Islamabad, the program brought together mediators and practitioners for practical learning on specialized mediation techniques and considerations within the Pakistani context.
Led by Dave Moora and Emily Rife of Impact Associates, the session covered mediation in labor relations, including communication, reframing, problem-solving, managing power dynamics, and moving parties from competing positions towards potential resolution.
Participants also engaged in two family dispute mediation role plays, followed by debrief and feedback sessions focusing on mediator interventions, emotional dynamics, communication techniques, and lessons learned.
The program concluded with an expert roundtable bringing together trainers, participants, and subject matter experts to discuss practical challenges and opportunities for strengthening mediation in labor and family disputes in Pakistan.
A valuable opportunity to strengthen practical mediation skills and contribute to the continued development of effective dispute resolution mechanisms in Pakistan.
